Sobre mí: Crafter. Teacher. helper.

I’m not that great at introductions, but here we go!

My name is Lissa Cabrera-Song (often go by Jade), I’m a Dominican Republic native currently doing her best to like the Pacific Northwest. I am in my last year of a Master’s degree in Spanish at Portland State University and currently excited to be writing my thesis!

I have only been in the US for a few years years, and have volunteered/worked for non-profits and moved apartments every year, learning so much along the way and gathering a little too many stories to tell. As a queer, black, and foreign woman, sharing a different perspective has always been essential to me.

I taught myself English in high school (so please excuse in advance my errors), and as a language teacher of 10+ years (Spanish, English, French), I strive to show my students that they can do the same. Aside from teaching, I also work odd jobs to make ends meet, but I’m a craft geek at heart. My current obsession is knitting, but you’ll surely find me doing origami, bookbinding and calligraphy here and there.
